A LUTON man who survived a murder attempt on his life a year ago has been jailed on Thursday, November 12, 2020, for three years and nine months after being found with wraps of heroin.

Hashim Malik, 25, of Carlton Crescent was stopped by police late at night in May of this year in a Land Rover and found with 23 wraps of the Class A drug worth in total around £460.

Unfortunately for Malik it wasn’t the first time he had been arrested by police after being caught supplying the drug.

He had two convictions dating back to 2012 when he was 16 and in 2017 he had been sentenced to six years imprisonments after being convicted of conspiring to supply drugs.

It meant that when he was found by the officers with drugs in May of this year he was still on licence having been released from the six year term in September of last year.

But the court heard today just a month after his release last year, Malik had been brutally attacked in Luton when a machete had been used by an assailant.

Kevin Molloy defending said his client had suffered terrible wounds to his abdomen and buttock and had then been shot in the stomach.

“It was a clear attempt of murder,” he said.

The court was told the effect of the attack had caused Malik to return to his old ways. He was jailed for three years and nine months.
