Freezing temperatures have triggered measures to help rough sleepers

Central Bedfordshire Council have issued the following weather warning: “Predicted sub-zero night-time temperatures trigger our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol support for those sleeping rough

“No one should be sleeping rough this winter.

“Our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is activated when the temperature is forecast to drop to zero degrees (or below) for three consecutive nights and it means that temporary night-time shelter is provided for people sleeping rough.

“Because the weather is predicted to fall to 0ºC or below for the next few nights, our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) has been activated up to and including Tuesday 26 January 2021.

“Our teams are ready to help anyone who finds themselves on the streets. If you see someone sleeping rough, the kindest thing you can do for them is contact our network, and we’ll make sure they are offered support.”
