The signs look good for continued support for businesses in the town centre - Hippy Wytch hopes the Chancellor’s spell will work for small shops

Businesses have welcomed news that support will continue in the shape of furlough and further funding announced by the Government, especially those that have opened during the lockdown year of 2020/21.21 with keys to the door

21 new businesses started up in 20/21 in the BedfordBID zone.

Despite the Covid trials facing town centres everywhere, the entrepreneurial spirit survives in Bedford with 50+ businesses opening since lockdowns began in March 2020.
All can be found via the BedfordBID’s lovebedford.co.uk directory and are cross-referenced under Essential Shops and Services and Click and Collect.

Those that are not operating under E

ssential Services, or offering services and products For Sale online during lockdown, are expected to Spring into Life as soon as regulations allow.

These join 100s of other independent businesses which can be found in the town. Bedford was said to have more independent businesses that any other major shopping outlets, many of them owned and run by local people. Love Bedford? Shop Local.
