Police seek man driving a ‘Jeep’ in connection with arson attack

Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspected arson attack at a house in Clapham in the early hours of Saturday, April 10.

At around 4.30am, emergency services were called to a house in High Street, following a report that the front door had been targeted with an accelerant and had caught fire.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the flames. No one inside the property was injured.

Officers are keen to trace a man seen leaving the scene, and a Jeep style vehicle that was seen making a U turn in the area at the same time.

Detective Sergeant Graham Williams, from the Bedfordshire Police Crime Investigation Team, said: “Luckily the occupants of the home were unharmed, but we take reports of arson very seriously.

“We investigating the circumstances of this incident, and are treating this as deliberate.

“We are keen to find out who is responsible, and I would ask anyone with information to come forward.”
