Indie bands Marquis Drive and local Bedford band The Wholls have just been announced as the final support acts for the forthcoming Ocean Colour Scene concert taking place at Bedford Park on Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Bedford’s very own boys, The Wholls have a sound that sits equally as comfortably on mainstream radio along with the likes of Wolf Alice, Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves.

After a whirlwind eight years of dedication, hard work (and the odd party) starting with local shows around the town and culminating in European tours, Radio 1 tracks of the week, major label deals, record streams in the millions and being touted by the BBC and more as having a sound and stage presence ready for stadiums, the boys decided to step away from the music industry in 2019.

But they couldn’t turn down the opportunity to come back together – possibly for one last time as The Wholls – to scratch an itch that has been with them since they last played together two years ago.

To say thank you to the place and people that gave birth to their unique journey.
And, as usual with their home coming shows through the years, they’ve got something special up their sleeve to make it a real party. Some surprises in the set, a fuller fleshed out sound and stage show – this could be one helluva way to sign off… for now.

Marquis Drive are seven ‘Midlanders’ who emerged in 2019 with a bang. Their first release ‘Proud’ went to number two in the UK vinyl charts with their lockdown releases ‘Truth Don’t Shock’ and ‘Spaceman’ released digitally to much acclaim “Great band, Great songwriters” (Mcgee) “Monster of a track” RGM.

Marquis Drive.

Having built up a strong reputation up and down the country supporting major acts such as: The Farm, Reverend and the Makers, The Wonder stuff, Shed Seven and many more, Marquis Drive have a growing reputation amongst the masses as Indie’s worst-kept secret.

The band featured on the Chris Moyles show on Radio X exactly a year ago, and they’ve been unable to play a gig since; but the Bedford Park Concert will see end to that with Marquis Drive’s upbeat, euphoric music sounding through the park.

With special guests Dodgy and headliners Ocean Colour Scene this is going to be one epic night of indie rock!
