The School Council at Livingstone Primary School, Bedford, were honoured on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, with a visit by the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Susan Lousada.

Mrs Lousada is the representative of HM King Charles in the County; she was appointed in September of this year.

The Council heard all about the origins and history of the role, from its beginnings during the reign of Henry VIII and what a Lord Lieutenant does today.

It was especially exciting as she was able to tell the children about accompanying King Charles on his visit to Luton this week.

As well as explain her role she also took part in a Q&A session with the children asking lots of interesting questions.

Head teacher Peter Thornes was delighted to welcome Susan to the school. “It was such an interesting visit for our Council and they loved hearing about the history of her role and what it means for Bedfordshire.”
