Hot on the heels of being named Independent Boys’ School of the Year in the much-coveted annual Independent Schools of the Year Awards, Bedford School are today rejoicing after being shortlisted for not just one, but four, major national education awards.

Tes Schools Awards 2022

Awarded to the most outstanding individuals and institutions in the education sector, to be recognised in the shortlist for the TES Schools Awards 2022 is an incredible honour. It was revealed this week that Bedford School is shortlisted for both the Independent Senior School of the Year and Boarding School of the Year.

The panel of expert judges includes school leaders, inspectors and education researchers. The objectivity, professionalism and high standards of the TES Schools Awards judges and the judging process has helped establish the awards as a highly respected achievement for any school chosen as a finalist or winner.

TES editor and chief judge of the TES Schools Awards Jon Severs said: “This year has seen an incredibly high standard of entries to the TES Schools Awards. Every teacher and school who has been nominated should be incredibly proud – it’s a fantastic achievement. We are looking forward to showcasing, as we do every year, just how vital our education professionals are to every facet of this country.

“Teachers, leaders and support staff have all played an enormous role as schools have battled with immense challenges over the last few years: this is our chance to say thank you for all that they do.”

Muddy Stilettos Best Schools Awards 2022

The news of the TES awards comes just days after the Bedford-based independent school for boys learned that they have also been shortlisted in two categories in the inaugural Muddy Stilettoes Best Schools Awards for Happiest Boarding School and Empowering Young Entrepreneurs as well as receiving a ‘highly commended’ in the Giving Something Back category.

James Hodgson, Head Master at Bedford School, said: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for four awards and been ‘highly commended’ in a fifth in two very well-respected award schemes within the education sector.

“This is down to the consistent and unwavering hard work of over 1,100 boys, their teachers, boarding housemasters, support staff, governors and Old Bedfordians over a very tough year of schooling. Every single person has contributed and together we all make up one incredible school – receiving accolades such as these proves this. I am immensely proud of everyone here; this really is a special place to be part of.”

Winners of the Muddy Stilettos Best School awards will be announced on 14 June and the winners of the TES awards will be announced on Friday, 17 June, at a gala ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
