Five people involved in a County Line drugs supply in Welwyn Garden City appeared in crown court on Friday, February 10, 2023.

The Q line could have been making up to £2,000 a day, St Albans Crown Court was told.

Prosecutor Gary Venturi said: “It was serious, persistent organised supply of Class A drugs. “The Q line was used to facilitate the sale of crack and heroin in Welwyn Garden City.”

Asad Ashraf, 28, from Putnoe Street, Bedford played a leading role in the operation with Tanvir Islam, 27, from Althorp Road, Luton acting as his “trusted lieutenant.”

Mr Venturi said there was almost daily contact between the men with Ashraf asking for updates on profit and the performance of dealers.

Ashraf was on bail having been arrested in 2019 when he was stopped in Welwyn Garden City with deal bags containing £3550 worth of crack and heroin.

Co-defendant Nadia Mahboob, 26, of Atherstone Road, Luton assisted another gang member as a driver.

Police found 148 wraps of cocaine and 77 wraps of heroin when they searched the Mokka.

Wayne Dorken 44, of Walnut Grove, Welwyn Garden City and Stacey Skeggs, 32, of Nettlecrfoft were arrested on November 10, 2021.

84 wraps of heroin and 94 wraps of cocaine worth £1,770 were found in the car.

A lock-knife and a knuckle duster were found in Dorken’s bag.

Ashraf admitted possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply in 2019 and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

He will be sentenced on 16 February. Islam admitted conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and was jailed for six years nine months.

Mahboob was sentenced to 22 months’ jail suspended for 18 months after admitting possessing of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Dorken admitted conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, possessing a lock-knife and a knuckle duster. He was sentenced to 24 months suspended for 18 months, 30 days rehabilitation and nine months drug rehabilitation.

Skeggs admitted being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and was jailed for 31 months.

Confiscation proceedings have been launched against Ashraf.
